Young Minds Denmark

Hans Chr Schmidt Minister of Enviroment, Denmark visted Young Minds.

We told him about our project, showed him the poster and told him the problems from our point of wiev.

We told him that we think it is a bad idea that Denmark send  the dioxin from the smoke in the incinerators to Norway.

The minister agreed, but he told us that it is the safest way to put it at the present.

He agreed that all types of dieselvans should use paticle filters. The Minister told us that the enviroment Ministry have encouraged all Municipalities and traffic companiges in Denmark to use particle filters but only the Dunicipality of Copenhagen have reacted.

The state gives 2 X 10,5 mio DKR. But the Municipalities  must do something them selves too.

Even if the filters are expensive, that is not the ploblem, you most think of the consequenses.

He agreed very much that we have to do something about the CO2-emission.

The Minister thanked us because we take action. He think that it is importen that young people are interester in enviromental issues. The Minister told us

When we are frowning you know you are on the right track.

Interwiev with Ms. Stephanie Baud

from France.

Direction regionale des affairs samarites at socialles - DRASS

Question:  Do you think particles filtres is a good  solution against particles from diesel droven cars.?

Answer: No i don't think so. The solution is to stop driving in cars so much. the filters only stop some of of the particles but not the CO2. Don't drive so much that is the only solution.

Interwiev with Mr Francois André

from Belgium

Adviser FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment

This was a very pessimistic interwiev.

F Andre think that EU never are going to agree ith each other about  particle filters.

He think that it is very good that we are optimistic. Because he is older he is very negtive about the possibility to make a better world, he said.

Belgium does the same things as all the othr countries in the EU.

Herr Dr. Erhard Schmidt from Germany

Abteilungsleiter Arzneimittel und Gesundheitsschutz im Bundesministerium fur Gesundheit

We talked to Herr Dr. Erhard Schmidt from Germany and asked him some questions.

What is the biggest enviroment problem in your country?

Well I think that the biggest porobnlem would be the traffic and the traffic accident.

Do you think that young people know enough about the enviroment?

oaah....i don't know.... I don't think so.... we in Germany has made an internet webside special to kids, to inform, them about the enviroment.

Mr Bory Alikhanov and Mr Ulugbek Uzakov from Uzbekistan

We persentet our posters to Mr Bory Alikhanov and Mr Ulugbek Uzakov from Uzbekistan. They were interested and said that the posters vere beautifull and simple, but they didn't tell us very much about the situation in Uzbekistan.

Mr Bory Alikhanov Chairman

State Committee for Nature Protection

 and Mr Ulugbek Uzakov Senior

specialist of Cabinet of Ministry

from Uzbekistan

We interviewed Mr. Vardan Ayvazyan, the minister of the environment in Armenia.

What is the biggest environment problem in your country?

We have many big problems. I cannot seperaite because there are so many problems.  but there are theese importen problems : we have a big lake, sevan, because it was used  for electricity and that caused some problems in the envirnment.

Another problem is that people not allways get enough food.

What are you trying to do better?

We get insperation at this conference.

Do you think that young people know enogh about the environment?

We have also a young people organisation. Young people in Armenia aqre very interested in health and enviromental issues.

We have talked with Ms. Stephanie Baud from France.

Do you think that young people and kids now enogh about the enviroment?

Answer: No not at all

What do you think couldt make that happen?

When children learn about the enviroment in school its only about things like flowers and bies. I think that parents and teachters should learn kids about enviroment problems............

Some of our visitore - among them Ray Edwards from Canada and youth delegates from Denmark Liv Norgaard and Cecilie B Hansen - wrote statements in DISCUSSIONS  (Conference highlights).

We had contact with the rest of the class at The Healthy Planet Forum, where the NGOs were. They presented our project at the NGO conference and they made a play about pollution with dioxin.

You can see what we and they wrote in Discussions (Conference highlights).

See some pictures from Healthy Planet Forum.
