Aarhus

Aarhus is the second-largest city in Denmark - a very large small town. Or a small big city.
The population totals 285,000 people, about 10 % are students.
The Aarhus of the twenty-first century is home to the largest container port in Denmark, educational and research institutions, excellent cultural offers and all the sport and leisure facilities you could wish for.
The city is very attractive, neatly frames by woods and beaches.

The municipality of Aarhus has one of the country’s largest municipal primary and lower secondary school education systems, with over 27.000 pupils distributed at 53 schools. You can read more here: www.aaks.dk

The schools under the Aarhus Municipal Education Authority are to be environment certified. Conservation of energy measures, energy management and environment management are already in force. To further the educational aspect, the local school authority have, in collaboration with the Danish University of Education, developed the Green Touch Project. This project supports the schools in their work with the environment policy. The issue here is the development of the children’s action competence in relation to the environment.
