How to make links

There are basically two different kinds of links

  • Internal links
  • External links

Internal links

Internal links can be subdivided into two different kinds of links

  • HTTP-links
  • Anchors

External links

External links are always HTTP-links

How to make an internal link

HTTP-link

If you want to link to another page inside the web, the easiest way to do this is to enter the text in which you want to make the link

  • Either insert a new text or enter an existing text (click the pencil)
  • Highlight the word(s) you want to be the link
  • Click the icon with the chain and the words WEB

  • This dialogue-box appears:

  • Click the button 'Internal link'. The window showing the site will appear on the screen. Select the page you want to link to by clicking it.

You can choose between opening the link in a new window or in the same window that you are presently using.

You can also add a hint by filling in the 'Pop-up text'.

Anchor-link

An anchor is a pointer to a specific place in a webpage. If you fore instance have a page with different sub-headings and you want to link directly to one of these, you should use an anchor. Then you avoid scrolling on the page you link to.

Before you can do this, you have to make the anchor.

  • Go to the page in which you want to place the anchor.
  • Enter the text in editor-mode
  • Place the cursor where you want to place the anchor.
  • Click the icon showing an anchor

  • This dialogue will appear on the screen.

  • Write a simple and understandable name as the anchor-name and click OK. An anchor will appear where you placed the cursor. The anchor will not be visible when the page is published.

Linking to an anchor

Now that the is created you should link to it.

  • Go to the page or the position on the page where you want the link to be.
  • Highlight the word(s) and click the link tool

  • The procedure is as described above but with the difference that you connect to the anchor on a page instead of to the page itself.
  • Note! Anchors are not vivible on the Sitemap until it has been published once.

How to make an external link

  • Go to the website / webpage you want to link to and harvest the URL.
  • Go back to the page you are editing.
  • Highlight the word(s) you want to be the link.
  • Click the Link-tool.
  • Insert the URL you harvested (is in the Clipboard) and paste it into the dialogue-box. Remember that it must be the complete address, including 'http.//.....' .
  • For external links I suggest that you open them in a new window by checking the box 'Open in new window'.
